Armed with nothing more than drums, a Bass VI and two angry voices, Birmingham based dredge are equal parts chaos, humour and heaviness. They aren’t here to polish the edges, they’re here to make the floor shake. Now, their debut EP has been unleashed.
Lead track “captain oblivious” was written after spending a night with someone who was blissfully unaware of one key part of their personality. They were, objectively, a complete dick.
It’s the opener and final single from dredge’s debut EP ‘doomed from the start‘, self-recorded in a garage/evil lair somewhere between Birmingham and the earth’s lower crust (Worcestershire).
It’s probably the most chaotic and noisy track on the EP, sitting alongside songs about everything from the fear (and comfort) of getting old and boring (drink beer, hail satan), to meeting the wrong people (temptress), to three goblins in a trench coat running the world (goblins – check out the video!).
Rough around the edges, louder than it needs to be and not particularly interested in behaving itself, this is dredge.
Two-piece. Too loud.
